Writing a Creative Composition: 7 Simple Steps
After you have read the lead sentence or the topic of your composition and understood it, the next step is to plan. Don't start writing the composition immediately; use the first five minutes to plan.
How to plan perfectly
With planning, the following are involved:
1.Setting
2.Characters
3. Vocabulary items
4.Figurative language
5.Paragraphing
Let's start with the first one.
1.Setting:
It is described as the place where the action takes place. It could be inside the house, at school, in the forest, on your way home, etcetera.
The setting can also describe the time of day. Was it in the morning, afternoon, evening, or nighttime?
It can also mean the day. Did the action take place on Thursday, or was it on a Sunday?
Setting can be captured in one or two sentences. You should do so in the first paragraph.
I was startled from sleep one Saturday morning by the sounds of gunshots.
{The fact that the person was sleeping means the setting was at home}
Once you have understood the setting, restrict yourself to it. In the example above, write about events that happened that Saturday. Don't jump to Sunday.
In the next blog post, we will look at the next item in the list: characters.
